Tanpreet Parmar is a passionate mental health advocate, public speaker, host, and community leader whose work centers on self-love, acceptance, and resilience. Born in Hong Kong and immigrating to Canada with her family in 2000, Tanpreet’s journey has been one of adaptation, perseverance, and chasing dreams against all odds. With a diverse background in modelling, acting, public speaking, and the entertainment industry, alongside her career in Human Resources, she has built her path without formal training or coaching — guided only by passion, persistence, and an unwavering belief in her purpose.
As a speaker and educator with the registered Canadian charity Stigma-Free Mental Health Society, Tanpreet has worked with youth across Canada to raise awareness about mental health, break stigma, and inspire conversations around body image, self-worth, and emotional well-being. Drawing from her own lived experiences with perfectionism, body image struggles, anxiety, and depression, she sheds light on the harmful weight of societal expectations, media pressures, and the entertainment industry’s unrealistic standards. Her mission is to empower people to embrace their individuality, build confidence, and prioritize their mental health.
Her life has been a testament to perseverance. Growing up as a woman in modern society meant navigating internal battles, external judgment, rejection, and cultural expectations — challenges that only strengthened her resolve to succeed. She has broken barriers for South Asian women, encouraging them to take on leadership roles, pursue their passions, and challenge limiting norms.
In 2014, her community work earned her the title of Miss Charity British Columbia. Two years later, she was crowned Miss India-Canada. Competing in Miss Canada three times before finally winning in 2024, her journey was defined by persistence and growth.
Winning Miss Canada 2024 was deeply personal — the culmination of four attempts, each one a chance to learn, grow, and break down barriers. While some achieve their goals quickly, Tanpreet’s longer path taught her that setbacks are not failures, but opportunities for reflection, self-care, and development. Between her third and fourth attempts, she prioritized her mental health, returning stronger, more focused, and ready to achieve her full potential.
Her reign was more than a title — it was a platform for empowerment, celebrating individuality, inner beauty, and the courage to chase your dreams without giving up. During her year as Miss Canada, Tanpreet worked with a variety of charities and causes, collaborated with leaders in the community, and was recognized with the Global Ambassador Award by Times of Canada magazine for her impact and service. She continues to give back, mentor youth, and support her community through speaking engagements, advocacy work, and volunteerism.
Now, beyond her reign, Tanpreet continues to share her journey across Canada, partnering with organizations that support mental health and body positivity, and inspiring others to navigate societal and media pressures with confidence. Her story — from a young girl immigrating to Canada to a self-taught dreamer and national titleholder — stands as proof that you don’t need the “perfect” path to achieve extraordinary goals. You need passion, resilience, and the courage to keep going.
